3 Types Of Insurance You Need For Full Coverage

After struggling for months to know what to do about our family finances, I realized that there were some pretty big loopholes in our plan. I knew that I needed to insure our family so that I could protect our money in the event of an accident, but it was really difficult to find the perfect plan. I started talking with an insurance broker who could help, and it was amazing to hear the solid advice that he had for us. This blog is all about insuring your family by finding the right insurance policies and keeping your costs as low as possible.

If you are looking to purchase auto insurance and have full coverage, it is important to understand what that means. Full coverage is not one type of insurance; rather, it means you have three different insurance types that take care of all your vehicular needs.

#1: Liability Insurance

First, you need to have liability insurance. Liability insurance is designed to cover all the damage you cause to other people's vehicles and property and body in an accident you are considered at fault for. Most states will have a minimum amount of liability insurance you have to carry. However, that minimum amount is generally something you should increase to protect yourself and all your property. Liability insurance is all about protecting you against the damage you can do to other people.

#2: Collision Insurance

Second, you are going to want to carry collision insurance. Collision insurance is designed to protect your vehicle and provide you with the funds to fix it or replace it no matter who is responsible for damaging it. If you don't have money to replace your car with a new one on your own or if you were to get into an accident, collision insurance is essential, as it will provide you with the back-up protection you need.

#3: Comprehensive Insurance

An accident isn't the only way that you can damage your car. Your vehicle can get damaged by a natural disaster or by vandalism. That is where comprehensive insurance comes into play. It will help you fix your vehicle when something unexpected damages it outside of an accident. For example, if hail storm damages the body of your vehicle, your comprehensive coverage will take care of the damage. Or if a tree branch falls on your vehicle, you will be covered.

Bonus Coverage: Personal Injury Protection

If you want to really cover yourself, you will also want to add personal injury protection. Personal injury protection will cover your medical expenses if you get into an accident. Medical expenses from an accident can add up, and personal injury protection will take care of your medical expenses regardless of if you have medical insurance or not. It is a good idea to carry a high personal injury protection amount.

If you want to have full coverage on your vehicle, you will need to carry liability insurance, collision insurance, and comprehensive insurance. To really protect yourself, you are going to want to add personal injury protection as well. Reach out to an auto insurance professional to learn more.
